AquaDock Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 25, 2026
AquaDock keeps your data in Chrome on your computer. It has no servers, accounts, analytics, ads or payments, and never sends your notes, tasks, browsing or files to us. The only outside service it contacts on its own is MET Norway, for weather, and it sends only a city’s coordinates, never your device’s location.
AquaDock is a Chrome extension made by Hyperpoly Studios (“we”, “us”). It replaces Chrome’s New Tab page with a desktop: a Dock for your saved websites, Launchpad, Spotlight search, widgets, notes, tasks, reminders, Desktops and Workspaces. This policy explains what AquaDock stores, what it sends and the choices you have.
What AquaDock stores on your computer
The following are saved in your Chrome profile on your computer:
- settings and layout choices, including widget positions
- saved website addresses, titles and custom icons
- notes, tasks and calendar reminders
- weather preferences and cached forecasts
- Workspaces, their earlier versions and, if you turn it on, recovery snapshots
- apps you’ve moved to Trash
Wallpaper images and music files you upload are stored locally in Chrome’s IndexedDB. AquaDock does not sync this data to the cloud or encrypt it separately. Saved workspace addresses can contain sensitive details from the original link, so take care when saving or exporting them.
We have no application server, account system, analytics, advertising or payment system, and we never receive your browsing history, notes, tasks, workspace addresses or uploaded files.
Tabs
AquaDock uses Chrome’s tabs permission to switch to a site that’s already open, show which Dock apps are running, search your open tabs and save the tabs you choose into a Workspace. It does not capture passwords, page text, form entries or login cookies. Private (incognito) tabs are never saved into Workspaces or recovery snapshots.
Weather (MET Norway)
AquaDock never asks for or uses your device’s location. The Weather card shows San Francisco until you pick a city. City search uses a list of cities built into the extension, so the names you type are never sent anywhere. Weather doesn’t need any special Chrome permission.
For the city shown (San Francisco, or the one you pick), AquaDock sends the city’s coordinates, rounded to four decimal places, over HTTPS to MET Norway’s forecast service at api.met.no, without cookies or login details. Like any website, MET Norway receives your IP address and ordinary request information, plus AquaDock’s name, version and our website address, which MET Norway requires apps to send. See MET Norway’s terms.
Forecasts are stored on your computer for at least 30 minutes, and longer if MET Norway says the forecast is still current. Up to twelve recent cities are kept. Switching between °C and °F happens on your computer. You can change your city once every 30 minutes. Turning off the Weather card stops its updates but keeps your chosen city and saved forecasts.
Websites and searches
When you open a saved app, click a link or search, Chrome contacts that website or your existing default search engine, exactly as if you’d typed it into the address bar. AquaDock never changes your search engine. Icons for popular sites are built into the extension; other icons come from Chrome’s own favicon cache, and we don’t look up your website addresses on any server.
Optional permissions
These are off until you turn on the feature that needs them, and you can turn them off at any time:
- Website access: shows the Floating Dock on websites once you enable it. It shows your AquaDock apps only and does not read or send page content. You can hide it on individual sites or remove its access in Chrome.
- Bookmarks: lets Spotlight search your bookmarks on your computer.
- History and recently closed tabs: shows Chrome’s recently visited and recently closed pages when you ask for them. AquaDock doesn’t copy your history anywhere.
AquaDock also uses Chrome alarms for timers and optional workspace recovery, and a background audio page to play Focus sounds and your own music. It never uses your microphone and never uploads audio. It writes to your clipboard only when you choose to copy something, and never reads it. If Chrome shares your battery level, it is shown in the menu bar and not sent anywhere.
How long data is kept, and how to delete it
- Notes, tasks, reminders, Workspaces, uploads and settings stay until you change or delete them, or remove AquaDock.
- Apps you remove from the Dock stay in Trash for seven days unless you empty it sooner.
- Each Workspace keeps up to five earlier versions.
- Recovery snapshots are off by default. When on, AquaDock keeps up to twelve. Turn recovery off to stop new snapshots, and use Workspaces → Recovery → Delete recovery history to remove saved ones.
- Deleting an uploaded wallpaper or song removes it from your computer.
- Desktop → Export My Data downloads your AquaDock data (except uploaded audio and wallpapers) as a file on your computer.
- Removing AquaDock from Chrome deletes everything it stored.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
AquaDock uses information received through Chrome’s APIs only to provide the features described here, and complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We don’t use it for advertising, don’t sell it and don’t transfer it to data brokers. We have no way to read your local notes or browsing data remotely.
Children
AquaDock does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If AquaDock changes how it handles data, we’ll update this page and the date above before releasing the change.
