site.txt Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
site.txt works entirely inside your browser. It reads a page only when you click its icon, it never sends anything to a server, and the only thing it saves is file names you choose to type.
site.txt is a Chrome extension made by Hyperpoly Studios (“we”, “us”). It turns the webpage you are viewing into text that you can download as a TXT, PDF or Word file, or copy to your clipboard. This policy explains exactly what the extension accesses and stores.
What site.txt accesses
When you click the site.txt icon, the extension reads the text of the tab you are viewing so it can create your files. It cannot read any page until you click the icon, it never reads other tabs, and it does nothing in the background.
What site.txt stores
Only the file names you type in the popup. They are saved in your browser’s local extension storage, together with the address (URL) of that page, so your name is still there the next time you open site.txt on the same page. site.txt keeps names for your 100 most recent pages and deletes older ones automatically.
site.txt never stores the text of the pages you convert. The files you download are saved by Chrome to your own computer, like any other download.
What site.txt does not do
- It does not send page content, your browsing history or any personal information to us or to anyone else.
- It has no accounts, servers, analytics, tracking, cookies or advertising.
- It does not sell, rent or share any data.
- It does not load or run code from the internet; everything it needs is inside the extension.
Permissions
activeTab: lets site.txt read the current page only after you click its icon.scripting: runs a small script in that tab to collect the page’s text.storage: remembers the file names you type, on your device only.
Deleting your data
Clear a name box in the popup to forget that page’s saved names. Removing site.txt from Chrome deletes everything it stored.
Chrome Web Store data disclosure
site.txt does not collect or transmit user data. Data is not sold to third parties, not used or transferred for purposes unrelated to the extension’s single purpose, and not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Children
site.txt does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If site.txt ever changes how it handles data, we will update this page and the date above before the change is released.
