Sort Feed Lite Privacy Policy

Sort Feed Lite (full name “Sort Feed Lite — Outlier & Data Miner for Instagram”) is a Chrome extension made by Hyperpoly Studios (“we”, “us”). It ranks, filters, exports, downloads and transcribes posts from the Instagram profile pages you visit. This policy explains what it accesses, what it stores and the choices you have.

What the extension accesses

While you are on instagram.com, Sort Feed Lite reads the post data Instagram has already loaded in your browser: post links, publish dates, view, like and comment counts, captions, hashtags, audio names, and thumbnail and video addresses. It uses this only to calculate metrics (outlier score, engagement rate and velocity) and to show them on the page.

What it does not do

• It does not collect, store or transmit any data to us or to any third party.
• It has no servers, accounts, analytics, tracking pixels or advertising.
• It does not read your messages, passwords, cookies or account settings.
• It never posts, likes, follows or messages on your behalf.

What is stored, and where

Post data it captures lives only in the open tab’s memory and is discarded when you close or reload the tab. The only things saved between visits are:

• your preferred sort and filter settings
• the on/off switch
• whether you’ve dismissed the one-time tip
• any transcripts you create, so they appear in later exports

These are kept in Chrome’s local extension storage on your computer and are never synced or uploaded by Sort Feed Lite. Files are created only when you click Export or Download, and they are saved to your own Downloads folder.

Transcripts

When you click Transcribe, Sort Feed Lite first uses the auto-generated captions Instagram already provides for that reel, fetched from Instagram’s own servers. If there are none, it uses Chrome’s built-in on-device speech recognition, which processes the audio on your computer. The reel’s audio is never uploaded to us or to any other service.

Permissions

• downloads: saves the exports and media files you explicitly ask for.
• storage: remembers your settings and saved transcripts on your computer.
• offscreen: bundles the slides of a carousel into one .zip on your computer when you download it.
• instagram.com: runs the extension on Instagram profile pages, where it shows its panel and hover buttons.
• cdninstagram.com and fbcdn.net: Instagram serves videos, images and caption files from these domains. Access is used only to save media when you click Download, to zip carousel slides, and to read Instagram’s caption file when you click Transcribe.

All of Sort Feed Lite’s code ships inside the extension. It does not download or run code from anywhere else.

How to delete your data

• Closing or reloading the Instagram tab clears the post data Sort Feed Lite captured.
• Files you exported or downloaded are on your computer, and you can delete them like any other file.
• Removing Sort Feed Lite from Chrome deletes its saved settings and transcripts.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Sort Feed Lite uses information received through Chrome’s APIs only to provide the features described here, and complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We don’t use it for advertising, don’t sell it and don’t transfer it to anyone. We have no way to see your data remotely.

Children

Sort Feed Lite does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If Sort Feed Lite changes how it handles data, we’ll update this page and the date above before releasing the change.
